Climate Imperative: Reduce, Reuse and Sequester Greenhouse Gases

Join us to learn more about the cutting edge of carbon sequestration and the ’new carbon economy’

Wednesday, March 27, 20197:00 - 9:00pm (doors open at 6:30 pm)
Marin Health and Wellness Campus, RM 109-110
3240 Kerner Blvd., San Rafael, CA

The Climeworks carbon sucking plant in Switzerland.

This program will explore:

  • Large scale direct air capture
  • Underground carbon storage
  • Direct source carbon capture and re-use
  • Agriculture-based sequestration solutions
  • Carbon as waste or valuable input
  • The 'new carbon economy'

Greenhouse gas (GHG) levels in the atmosphere have continued to increase despite widespread scientific consensus that excess levels of GHGs are warming the planet and leading to climate change. Due to the lifespan of GHG molecules in the atmosphere, and the fact that humans continue to emit large quantities of GHGs by burning fossil fuels, we must actively remove GHGs over the next 10-30 years to stabilize the climate and protect the earth and it's inhabitants.

All pathways that limit global warming to 1.5C project carbon dioxide removal on the order of 100-1000 Gigatons CO2over the 21st century.
From the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) Special Report October 2018: Global Warming of 1.5oC

The event will focus on the hope and challenges of large-scale carbon sequestration and innovative technological and nature-based solutions under development. It will explore how new ideas are being generated and what the major challenges are to efficient and effective carbon capture, utilization and storage. Not surprisingly, policy makers and entrepreneurs see not only solutions but opportunities. Join us to learn more about the cutting edge of climate protection and the 'new carbon economy'.
